Our journey began with a shared desire among the alumni of Banneker High School’s Class of 1989. We sought not only to reconnect and fellowship with one another but also to give back to the institution that played a pivotal role in our lives. Recognizing the importance of supporting the current and future students of our beloved Alma Mater, we felt a deep sense of responsibility to contribute to their success.

 

 

Our mission is to empower the students of Banneker High School through mentorship, community support, and financial assistance. By fostering a strong network of alumni and leveraging our collective resources, we aim to create opportunities that will inspire and enable students to achieve their full potential.

 

 

We envision a thriving Banneker High School community where every student has access to the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to succeed academically and personally. Through our efforts, we strive to build a legacy of support and excellence that will benefit generations to come.

 

 

The Class of 1989 alumni recognized the essential need to form a non-profit organization to effectively raise funds and resources for Banneker High School. Our non-profit status allows us to:

 

1.Raise More Funds: With official non-profit status, we can organize large-scale fundraising events, apply for grants, and receive tax-deductible donations from individuals and corporations.

2.Provide Scholarships: We are dedicated to supporting students with exceptional circumstances by providing college or technical school scholarships, particularly for those with a GPA of 2.5 or lower.

3.Support Educational Programs: Through various initiatives, we aim to enhance the educational experience at Banneker High School by funding programs, resources, and extracurricular activities.

4.Foster Mentorship: By connecting alumni with current students, we provide valuable mentorship opportunities that can guide and inspire students throughout their academic and professional journeys.

5.Engage the Community: Our efforts extend beyond the school walls, fostering a sense of community and encouraging alumni to give back in meaningful ways.
